Advisory fees, stated before we start

You can engage us by the hour, by the project or on a monthly retainer, and the Growth Partner Program offers a custom, performance-based option. Every fee is written into your proposal before work begins.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

Our fees follow the consulting model of the Sedighi.ca group: hourly consulting at $175 to $350 an hour, defined projects at $3,500 to $25,000, and monthly retainers at $2,500 to $12,000, all in Canadian dollars plus GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec). The first 30-minute consultation is free. Software licences are separate: you pay the vendor directly.

How our services usually map to these options

These are typical patterns, not quotes; the proposal sets the actual figure.

  • A second opinion on a vendor proposal, or a review of an AI tool before staff use it: usually hourly, often a few hours.
  • Software selection for a CRM, field-service or accounting system: usually a project.
  • Digital roadmap: a project, sized by the number of interviews and systems.
  • Data and reporting or digital governance: usually a project, sometimes followed by short hourly reviews.
  • Implementation oversight: usually a retainer for the length of the rollout.
  • AI adoption: a project, or hourly when it is limited to writing guidelines.

What drives the cost within each range

Four factors explain most of the difference between the low and high ends of a range.

  1. Number of people and departments involved. A selection for a five-person office needs fewer interviews than one spanning sales, operations and finance.
  2. Complexity of the system. An ERP touches more processes and integrations than a CRM.
  3. Number of locations or legal entities. Each one adds requirements and testing.
  4. State of the data. Messy, duplicated records take longer to assess and plan for.

Weighing the fee against the decision

A useful test is to compare the advisory fee with the cost of the decision it informs. Suppose a CRM for 15 users costs $90 per user per month. Over three years, licences alone come to $90 × 15 × 36 = $48,600, before implementation, training and renewal increases. If structured selection avoids a poor fit that would have been replaced after 18 months, it saves much of the second implementation as well. Our CRM three-year cost guide works through a full model you can adapt.

The reverse is also true. For a small, low-risk purchase, a few hours of advice is often enough, and we will say so.

Sales tax by province

Prices are in Canadian dollars, and sales tax is added based on your province, as of October 2026 using the CRA rates:

Province or territory Tax on fees
Alberta, BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon, NWT, Nunavut 5% GST
Ontario 13% HST
Nova Scotia 14% HST
New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, PEI 15% HST
Quebec 5% GST plus 9.975% QST

In BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, provincial sales tax appears on an invoice only if it applies to the particular service.

Terms that are confirmed in writing

Payment schedules, retainer notice periods and any other commercial terms are written into your proposal. There is no lock-in. If you have a question about a term that is not covered here, ask it before you sign and we will answer it in the proposal.

To get a fee estimate, text (604) 632-4959 with the decision and the size of your team, or call or email. See the FAQ for common questions about engagements.

Frequently asked questions

Is the first conversation really free?

Yes. The initial 30-minute consultation is free and carries no obligation. It is a chance to describe the decision and hear whether paid advice makes sense.

Do you take a fee or referral payment from software vendors?

You buy software directly from the vendor and pay them directly. Our fees and all commercial terms of the engagement are set out in writing in your proposal, so you can see how we are paid.

Which taxes are added?

Prices are in Canadian dollars. As of October 2026, GST/HST is added based on your province, or GST and QST in Quebec; provincial sales tax in BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan applies only where it applies to the service.

Are we locked into a contract?

No lock-in. Projects have a defined scope and milestone payments, and any retainer notice period is written into the proposal.

Do you offer discounts?

We use the listed fee ranges and quote the specific figure for your scope in the proposal.
